Solid first season for Cosmos

Cosmos finished their first full season in the Baseball Ireland league with a creditable 8 wins and 5 losses. The squad and profile of the club continued to grow with new players added and an agreement in place with the Munster Agricultural Society https://www.corksummershow.com/ to host home games at the Munster Showgrounds in Curaheen for the next 5 years.

Cosmos will begin their 2022 season preaparation at Nemo Rangers http://www.nemorangers.ie indoor Astro Hall on Sunday 7th November at 3pm. It is hoped to commence youth training at the same venue on Sunday 14th November – also at 3pm.

With the bases loaded in the bottom of the last inning, Titans pulled off a superb double play to seal the win.

Cosmos had raced into a 7-1 lead after 3 with Alec Schmidt excellent on the hill again for Cosmos. Titans young pitcher David Linn steadied himself after two rocky opening innings and the game was finely balanced after 5 with Cosmos leading 9-5. Excellent batting from a young Titans outfit saw them lead 21-14 with the Cosmos at-bat in the final innings. Cosmos tacked on one more and some excellent work with the bat left the bases loaded and the game in the balance but superb fielding from the Titans helped them maintain their unbeaten start to the season.

Highlights for Cosmos were short stop Filip Zakrocki with a in the park gone-run and Alec Schmidt with 8 earned runs.

Cosmos will have to dust themselves off and make the long trip to Portmarnock next weekend to face Red Rox

Cosmos get 3rd win of the season

Cosmos continued their solid start to the season with a hard-fought 21-11 victory over the Spartans B at Corkagh Park,Dublin on Saturday. Two evenly matched teams saw the game finely balanced, but in the 6th inning Lukas ‘eye-catch’ Odendaal broke the game open with a superb grand-slam HR. Spartans battled back again but excellent pitching a from Alec Schmidt, with his 3rd scoreless inning of the day, brought it home for the Cosmos. Next up for the Cosmos is a top of the table clash with the undefeated Ashbourne Titans at the Munster Showgrounds, Curaheen.

Cosmos good start to their season continued with a 25-10 victory over Belfast Buccaneers at Corkagh Park on Saturday last. Both teams fielded a blend of youth and experience and after a tight opening Cosmos bats started firing to help them pull away. Alec Schmidt produced another solid performance on the mound for the Cosmos. Next up is a tough away trip to Corkagh Park to face an improving Spartans side.
